Opie's Home - Netflix
The live-action preschoool series Hi Opie! is getting a spin-off.
Toronto's marblemedia has partnered with TVO, City Saskatchewan, Knowledge Network and The Jim Henson Company to produce Opie's Home.
The new live-action series (39 x 7 minutes) follows four-year-old puppet Opie as he explores new things in and around his home. Opie, who was designed and built by Jim Henson's Creature Shop, is once again voiced and operated by puppeteer Jordan Lockhart. The series will also feature veteran Canadian actor Graham Greene as Opie's next door neighbour Mr. Kabashio.
Hi Opie! was created by Barbara Slade, developed in partnership with TVOKids and produced in association with The Jim Henson Company. It followed Opie as he set off to kindergarten for the first time.
Opie's Home is currently in production in Hamilton, ON and is slated to premiere in 2017. In addition to the new series, marblemedia is developing an interactive website and mobile app to accompany the show.
The series is produced by marblemedia, in association with TVO, The Jim Henson Company, City Saskatchewan and Knowledge Network. It is produced with the financial participation of the Shaw Rocket Fund, the Canadian Media Fund (CMF) and the Bell Fund.
Opie's Home is executive produced by marblemedia's Mark Bishop, Matt Hornburg and Miklos Perlus, who also serves as showrunner. Marney Malabar, director of Kids TV at TVO will also executive produce, alongside Halle Stanford, EVP of Children's Entertainment at The Jim Henson Company.
Sharon Summerling will produce and Lowell Dean of Lolofilms will associate produce and direct.
Distribution360 will share the broadcast and digital distribution with The Jim Henson Company, which will also oversee format rights, as well as all merchandising and licensing rights worldwide.

Opie's Home - Miklos Perlus - Netflix
Miklos Perlus (born March 23, 1977) is a Canadian actor, voice actor, and screenwriter. He was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Perlus attended McGill where he studied Cultural Studies. He played Victor Kane on Student Bodies, Peter Craig on Road to Avonlea. Perlus' experience has included a variety of roles in media as a writer, a story editor and he has developed several television productions. He also wrote and co-developed CTV's Instant Star. Perlus served as a writer and story editor for Degrassi: The Next Generation. He was the co-winner of a Writers Guild of Canada award (shared with James Hurst) for an episode of Degrassi. In 2008, Perlus became Marblemedia's Director of Content Development, where he was responsible for creating, sourcing and developing innovative multi-platform content and bringing them to fruition for television and digital media. In 2010, he became voice of Eric for the YTV animated series, Sidekick. From 2014 - 2016 He served as Vice President, Kids and Family at Marblemedia. In 2016, Perlus created and executive produced a live action family comedy for preschoolers called Opie's Home. In 2017 he joined the animated series Nina's World (Sprout) as Supervising Producer.
