However, all is not well, as the occurences of the ocult and devil-worshippers begin to sprout up all over the country. Enter the Magdalene Order, a special group of exorcist that use tradional methods (holy water and special metal) and infused them into the technology of the time to battle these demons and their summoners. This is the story of Rosette Christopher, a young exorcist and her close friend Chrono, a demon with a dark history, as they go on a quest to find and rescue Rosette's younger brother, Joshua, from the clutches of evil. This is going to be a trip!

Chrono Crusade, originally known in Japan as Chrno Crusade (Japanese: クロノ クルセイド, Hepburn: Kurono Kuruseido), due to a typo, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Daisuke Moriyama. It was originally published by Kadokawa Shoten in Comic Dragon, then a special issue of the Dragon Magazine. A 24-episode anime television series based on the manga ran from 2003 to 2004 on Fuji TV. The animation work was done by Gonzo. The series was released in North America by ADV Manga and ADV Films, titled Chrono Crusade. Set in New York during the 1920s, Chrono Crusade follows the story of Rosette Christopher, and her demon partner Chrono. As members of the Magdalene Order, they travel around the country eliminating demonic threats to society, while Rosette searches for her lost brother Joshua.

A light novel adaptation, Chrono Crusade: Wings, They are the Light of the Soul (クロノクルセイド: 翼よ、あれが魂の灯だ, Kurono Kuruseido: Tsubasa Yo, Are Ga Tamashii no Akari Da), was published in Japan by Kadokawa Shoten on April 20, 2004. Written by Tominaga Hiroshi and illustrated by Miyazawa Hiroshi, the novel is an original side story for the series, in which Sister Rosette and Chrono investigate strange events in St. Louis.
